Into the Fog: Dead by Daylight’s New Killer and a Terrifying Deep Dive into Thai Folklore
Popular Now

The dark and ever-expanding world of Dead by Daylight is set to become even more unsettling with the highly anticipated release of the Sinister Grace update. Behaviour Interactive, the developers behind the hit asymmetrical horror game, have officially revealed a new killer, The Krasue, alongside a new survivor and a set of game-changing perks. This new chapter marks a significant and chilling departure, drawing inspiration from the grotesque and deeply unsettling world of Thai folklore to create a killer unlike any other. The addition of The Krasue promises to inject a new level of strategy and fear into the trials, forcing both killers and survivors to adapt to a gameplay style that is as disturbing as it is effective.
The Tragic and Gruesome Lore of The Krasue
The backstory of the new killer is a narrative steeped in body horror and a desperate thirst for fame. The Krasue was once a beautiful and talented opera singer named Burong Sukapat. Driven by an insatiable ambition to be a star, she entered into a dark pact: in exchange for an otherworldly singing talent, she would allow a malevolent entity to inhabit her body at night. This Faustian bargain had a horrific cost. The entity’s presence twisted her, turning her into a monstrous being forever cursed to shed her body and hunt as a disembodied head with dangling entrails. This tragic tale of a woman consumed by her own desires provides a compelling and gruesome motivation for her relentless pursuit of survivors in The Fog.
A Dual-Form Power: Unbodied Flesh
The Krasue’s power, Unbodied Flesh, is a revolutionary mechanic that sets her apart from every other killer in the game. It allows her to switch between two distinct forms, each with its own advantages and purpose, creating a high skill-ceiling and an element of unpredictability for survivors:
- Body Form: In this state, The Krasue appears as a seemingly normal woman. While in this form, she can use a projectile attack called the Leeching Gland. When this viscous projectile hits a survivor, it infects them with a debilitating effect, making them more susceptible to her attacks in her other form. This is the setup phase, used to initiate chases and apply pressure from a distance.
- Head Form: This is The Krasue’s true, terrifying form. By violently separating her head from her body, she becomes a fast-moving, floating entity. In this form, she can use her Intestinal Whip, a ranged melee attack that can injure or down survivors who have been infected by the Leeching Gland. The ability to switch between a slower, strategic form and a rapid, aggressive one allows for a unique hit-and-run playstyle that keeps survivors constantly on edge.
This dual-form power rewards a player’s ability to plan and execute, making The Krasue a truly terrifying and dynamic force in the game. The psychological impact of seeing a disembodied head floating toward you is a new kind of horror that players will have to contend with.
New Perks to Shake Up the Meta
The Krasue comes with three new perks that are designed to complement her high-pressure, hit-and-run playstyle. These perks are not only powerful for her but also promise to create new synergy builds for other killers:
- Hex: Overture of Doom: This hex perk is a masterstroke of deception. It curses the generator farthest from you. When a survivor starts repairing it, your terror radius is transferred to that generator, and you become undetectable. This allows for a terrifyingly effective surprise attack, catching survivors completely off guard.
- Ravenous: This perk is all about spreading pressure across the map. It rewards you for hooking each survivor at least once. Once every survivor has been hooked, they all scream and are exposed for a short duration, creating a powerful window of opportunity to quickly down them. This perk encourages a more balanced and widespread approach to hunting.
- Wandering Eye: A valuable information tool, this perk allows you to see the aura of all nearby survivors while in a chase. This provides crucial intel, allowing you to strategically abandon a chase for a more vulnerable target or to cut off an escaping survivor’s path.
A New Survivor and the Future of Dead by Daylight
The Sinister Grace chapter also introduces a new survivor, Vee Boonyasak, a drummer from the rock band Axekick. Her background in music is reflected in her perk set, which provides unique buffs related to exhaustion recovery, skill checks, and healing. Her perks, Ghost Notes, One-Two-Three-Four!, and Road Life, offer a high-energy playstyle that can provide bursts of support to her teammates.
The introduction of The Krasue is a bold and exciting step for Dead by Daylight. It further solidifies the game’s commitment to exploring diverse world folklore and pushing the boundaries of what a killer can be. The strategic depth offered by her dual-form power, combined with her powerful perks, ensures she will be a force to be reckoned with. The Sinister Grace chapter is currently available for testing on the Public Test Build (PTB) and is scheduled for a full release on September 23, 2025. This update is a clear signal that after nearly a decade, Dead by Daylight is still finding new ways to scare and engage its dedicated player base.
